For starters, I'll give you props for doing this in Garageband. I don't think I could make dubstep in that program (I use FL Studio for mine). But as for some constructive criticism: I think you need to take a second look at you EQing. I'm getting A LOT from the lows and the mids, but there really isn't much in the high ends. Your cymbals and hats need to sound super crisp up there, but they are sitting a bit too low in the mix I think. Also keep in mind that the bass, although it's a bass, needs to have a high end. It will give it grit and crispness and it will fill seem to fill out more space. Like the other reviews say, the elements are here. I hope I gave a few good suggestions of what to actually DO with those elements. I'm gonna follow you because I'm really interested to see where you're music goes and how you progress!

P.S. I could always use some feedback on my tracks if you ever have a minute! Thanks!

Diggin the track dude! Only thing I would change is that during the drop, I would bring down the levels on the main bass voice, it is significantly louder than anything else in the track. Also, that would allow for the drums to cut through more, which would help it groove. Totally awesome though! You get a follow from me!

that voice at 2:31 tho! Sick!

I really like the super syncopated rhythms. My complaints with it are that the drums sound a little bit generic and some of the background sounds are not to my liking. You have a good amount of variation (which is crucial for this genre). The timbre of the piano could be tweaked to fit more snugly into the track. I really like the chord progressions that you chose. The harmonic movement is strong, but still pretty chill while providing forward motion. My general impression of this is that the musical quality of this track far exceeds it's production. I hope this helped you! I enjoyed the track a lot bro!

8-BitCat responds:

Thanks for the review! I agree with the drums, I was gonna change that later to make it less generic when I was still making this but I guess I forgot (i need to be more organized) and I'll try to get background sounds that'll go better next time <.< I'm glad you enjoyed it ^.^ and I'll definitely keep your advice in mind ^.^

I'm diggin the vocals for sure. who is the vocalsit? that may be a thing to talk about in the description. my only complaint is that i feel that it needs more forward motion, a bit more...adrenaline. But I also like like a lot of the wobbles and talking basses.

MichoMen responds:

I got the vocals at http://www.looperman.com/ I don't know who is singing. I wanted this song to be slow because I wanted to make it feel like the guy who is singing is just saying 'bout him and how sad he is. Still need some work with the vocals but I lost this project (it crached). :P

Digin the track man! It's realy chill. I'd be curious to know how you made the main wobble voice :)

MichoMen responds:

I was just screwing around in NI Massive and I found that wobble but it was too rough so I lowered it by deleting and editing some effects. I don't really know which preset was it because I have like thousand of them. I remember I searched "sick wobble presets for massive". xD I can give you some tips if you want. :P

Solid track man, interesting use of reverb throughout. I liked it a lot. My one minor qualm is that I would almost like a bit more crispness in the low end, it's wonderful in the high end's thematic ostinato though.

First off I would like to share my friend Alex's response to this track: ahem..

"I was like okay. Then it got funky and I was like dude that's wack, then it was like I don't give a shit I rock dis. And I'd did. Was awesome."

So ya dude solid track. I love funk and I love dubstep and u capitalized on all the awesome things about both genres in a very creative way. Really really sick track dude 5/5 and dl!

Hey bro,
I don't write many reviews, but I feel like I owe you one. I've been a fan of yours since I first got into dubstep. My friend told me some artist to go check out so I went to itunes and got myself the "essentials". But then I started producing and using ng a lot and I found you. I listened to a couple of your tracks and was like wow...this is way better than frikin skrillex and all them. I have a CD made of your stuff that I listen to and it encourages me that maybe one day I can be a great producer too.

TheBiocide responds:

Man, I don't get reviews like this often... seriously appreciate this - It genuinely brought a smile to my face :) Can't thank you enough, man, what a humbling review. It's a real honor to be looked-up to as a producer. Let me just say, you guys - the reviewers - are one of the main reasons why I continue to dish out as many free songs as possible.

Cheers, my friend, and thanks again for the awesome review!

How did you create that gritty voice with the downward pitch bend if I may ask? What program to you use? Oh ya, and a truly amazing track my friend!

Exotec responds:

many hours of synth programming and 3 separate synth layers combined together :P I basically take about a day or two to create my main bass synth(s) from scratch for each song, and then create the rest of the synths from scratch as I go along (that's why I take about a month producing each track). And I make all my stuff in Reason 4 at the moment. Thanks for listening! New material is on the way :)

If you want me to be completely honest I think you should begin this track at 0:54 and use that bit as an intro into something. I love that part. Maybe take your piano theme and throw it on a synth voice over some bass? You should watch some youtube videos on using GarageBand. I think that would help you a lot. I don't think you should consider this project finished just yet though. It has so much potential. I'm sorry if I'm not praising you enough but I dont think that"s what you're looking for in a review. I hope you understand and I hope this helped!

Knaxder responds:

Thanks for the review, and you are correct, praise isn't what I am looking for.
